Abstract
Thirty-five specialists from France, Germany, India, Japan, the Republic of Kazakhsan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Georgia (observer) attended the meeting. The meeting had seven sessions. The main topics of discussions were: Status of control rod designs for fast reactors and experience with operation. Properties and behaviour of absorber materials for control rods. Results of post-irradiation examination of absorber materials, and mechanisms affecting their properties and behaviour. Design of a backup reactivity shutdown system utilizing passive mechanisms: Curie point electromagnetic mechanism. Enhancement of thermal expansion of absorber rdo drive lines. Hydraulically suspended control rods. Gas expansion modules in the core. And the possibility of optimizing the reactivity coefficients and the efficiency of Pu burning by using absorber and moderator materials in the core. A total of 23 papers were presented, and a technical tour of the IPPE also took place.
