Conference Article: Calculation of PEC and RAPSODIE Tests by SALCON code

Kobayashi, T. (Toshiba Corp., Isogo Engineering Center, Yokohama (Japan). Advanced Reactor Dept.)

Abstract

PEC Tests n.26 and n.30 were calculated by SALCOE code. The calculations reasonably agreed with the experimental data. The effects of the direction of the .input acceleration were investigated. The displacements were somewhat larger in the calculation with corner-corner acceleration than flat-flat, This result maybe specific to asymmetric configuration the PEC Tests. More work is needed to study the effects in the symmetric configuration which is more representative to the actual core. The impact forces were smaller in the corner-corner acceleration than flat-flat.

As for RAPSODIE Tests RAP087 in the air, the calculated displacement time histories of the top of the elements agreed well with the experimental data. Preliminary calculations were made with the single row model for Test RAP232 in the water. More work is needed to evaluate the effects of fluid before starting the multiple row analysis.
