Conference Article: Status of advanced fuels development in Switzerland

Stratton, R.W. (Paul Scherrer Inst. (PSI), Villigen (Switzerland))

Abstract

Since the previous IAEA meeting on Advanced Fuels in Wuerenlingen in December 1984, the Paul Scherrer Institute (formerly the Swiss Federal Institute for Reactor Research (EIR)) has continued to work on the development of advanced nuclear fuels for Fast Breeder Reactors (FBRs) and Light Water reactors (LWRs). A paper on EIR's advanced Breeder fuel development was given at the IAEA meeting on Advanced Fuels for Fast Breeder Reactors in Vienna on 3-5 November 1987. A paper on advanced mixed oxide fuels was recently presented at the IAEA technical meeting in Cadarache in November 1989. All of PSI's work over more than twenty years has been made using gelation techniques.
