Conference Article: The SVEA BWR fuel: Eight years of further development

Nylund, O.; Hjaerne, L. (ABB Atom AB, Vaesteraas (Sweden))

Abstract

The SVEA concept represented a significant advancement in BWR fuel technology since it was first published in 1981. The objective of the SVEA development endeavour was to achieve a number of significant performance improvements by a radical redesign effort. There are two basic SVEA 5 x 5 designs, SVEA-100 and SVEA-96. Successful operation of demonstration assemblies since 1986 and later partial reloads precedes the deliveries of the first SVEA-100 and SVEA-96 full reloads in 1990.
