Membership to INIS is open to countries who are members of the IAEA, to United Nations organizations and to other subject-oriented international or intergovernmental organizations with whom the IAEA has relations.
Currently, 116 countries and 22 international organizations participate in INIS.
To join INIS, a formal request needs to be made by the appropriate authority to the Director General of the IAEA expressing the wish to participate in INIS and undertaking to supply input regularly to the System. A co-operative system with a large member base allows INIS to have the most comprehensive collection of documents on nuclear related areas, ensuring completeness and broad geographic coverage not found elsewhere.
