A further supplemental agreement to the Headquarters Agreement
VIII.
Supplemental Agreement on the Scope of Section 1(o) of the Agreement Between the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Republic of Austria Regarding the Headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency1/
20 December 1964
Sir,
Article I, Section 1(o) of the Agreement between the International Atomic Energy
Agency and the Republic of Austria regarding the Headquarters of the International
Atomic Energy Agency provides as follows:
"The expression "officials of the IAEA" means the Director General and all members of the staff of the IAEA except those who are locally recruited and assigned to hourly rates."In view of the growing co-ordination of policies and programmes between the competent agencies of the United Nations system, and of the consequent need, in some cases, for the attachment of members of the secretariats of the United Nations and the specialized agencies to the staff of the International Atomic Energy Agency on a continuing basis in order to facilitate that co-ordination, I have the honour to propose on behalf of the International Atomic Energy Agency that the term "members of the staff of the IAEA" in Article I, Section 1(o) be considered to include members of the secretariats of the United Nations and the specialized agencies attached to the staff of the International Atomic Energy Agency on a continuing basis by agreement between the International Atomic Energy Agency and the organizations concerned. I have the honour further to propose that the professional grade of such members of the secretariats of those organizations shall be considered the equivalent of the corresponding grade in the staff of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
