1. The text of the Agreement to Extend the Regional Co-operative Agreement for Research, Development and Training Related to Nuclear Science and Technology, 1987 is reproduced herein for the information of all Members.

2. The Agreement entered into force, in accordance with Article 2, on the date of receipt by the Director General of the second notification of acceptance, i.e. 11 June 1992.

3. As of 14 September 1992, notifications of acceptance had been received by the Director General from the Governments of:

WHEREAS the Governments of Australia, Bangladesh, the People's Republic of China, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam (hereinafter referred to as "the Governments Parties") are parties to the Regional Co-operative Agreement for Research, Development and Training Related to Nuclear Science and Technology, 1987 (hereinafter referred to as the " 1987 Regional Co-operative Agreement") which entered into force on 12 June 1987 and is to remain in force for a period of five years from that date;

WHEREAS the 1987 Regional Co-operative Agreement is due to expire on 11 June 1992;

WHEREAS the Governments Parties desire to extend the 1987 Regional Co-operative Agreement with effect from the date of its expiry for a further five-year period in view of its usefulness in providing a regional framework for initiating co-operative projects and co-ordinated research programming between interested Member States;

NOW, THEREFORE, it is agreed as follows:

The 1987 Regional Co-operative Agreement shall continue in force for a further period of five years with effect from 12 June 1992. Unless otherwise agreed, all arrangements made in implementation of the 1987 Regional Co-operative Agreement shall also continue in force during the extended period.

1. Any Government Party to the 1987 Regional Co-operative Agreement and any Government of any Member State of the International Atomic Energy Agency (hereinafter referred to as the "Agency") referred to in Article XII of he 1987 Regional Co-operative Agreement may become a Party to this Extension Agreement by notifying its acceptance thereof to the Director General of the Agency.

2. This Extension Agreement shall enter into force on the date of receipt by the Director General of the Agency of the second notification of acceptance. With respect to a Government accepting the Agreement thereafter, it shall enter into force on the date of receipt by the Director General of the Agency of the notification of such acceptance.
