How to Apply for a Position at the IAEAHow to Learn About VacanciesVacancy notices are issued months before a position becomes available at the IAEA. As a matter of routine, they are now accessible over the Internet on the IAEA´s web site. Copies of announcements are also sent to all Member States, typically to the Atomic Energy Commissions, Ministries of Foreign Affairs, other international organizations, universities and other educational institutions. Interested individuals may wish to contact one of these in their home country in order to learn about vacant positions in the IAEA. In general, a period of two months is allowed for the submission of job applications in response to a vacancy notice. Abridged forms of the announcements are published in the IAEA Bulletin, the IAEA´s journal. In addition, all vacancy notices relating to posts in the Professional and higher categories are made available worldwide through a global computer network which can be accessed at http://www.iaea.org/About/Jobs/ and contains the text of the IAEA´s conditions of employment and Guidelines for Application to the IAEA which must be followed very carefully. Interested individuals may enquire about employment opportunities at the IAEA at any time. To be assured of consideration for a specific position, however, they must complete and submit an Online Job Application form. General Services (support) positions are filled on a locally recruited basis and are advertised for a period of four weeks. While every attempt is made to fill such positions from a multinational community, these positions are neither subject to geographical distribution nor to the IAEA´s rotation policy. Candidates for General Service positions in Vienna should be in possession of a valid visa for Austria and are responsible for their own relocation upon appointment. Recruitment Step-by-StepAnyone who wishes to apply for a position with the IAEA is encouraged to submit an Online Job Application. Applications received after the application deadline will not be considered. Interested individuals who do not have access to the Internet or those who prefer not to apply on-line may download the IAEA Personal History Form and submit it to the Recruitment Unit before the application deadline. It is appreciated if the required information is submitted in English. Upon receipt, applications for a specific vacancy are forwarded to the Division concerned for evaluation and the selection of candidates. In some cases, applicants may be invited for an interview in Vienna. After review of the selection process by the Division of Personnel to ensure that appropriate attention has been paid to female applicants and to applicants from developing countries and other countries that are under represented at the IAEA, a recommendation for appointment is submitted to the Advisory Panel on Professional Appointments, which is composed of all the Deputy Directors General and the President of the Staff Council. Final approval of the appointment is then obtained from the Director General or the Deputy Director General for Management. An offer of appointment is sent to the selected candidate approximately two months before he/she is expected to take up the position. If the candidate accepts the offer, he/she receives a Letter of Appointment and, upon acceptance of its terms, becomes a new IAEA staff member. Please send your application and all correspondence to: Recruitment Unit We look forward to receiving your application! |
