The World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), Johannesburg, South Africa (26 August - 4 September 2002)

The Preparatory Committee for the WSSD met four times before the Summit began on 26 August 2002.

At the second meeting (PrepCom 2), held from 28 January to
8 February 2002, the IAEA contributed a background paper on the Agency's assistance to developing countries in implementing Agenda 21.

For PrepCom 3 (25 March-5 April 2002), the Agency hosted on
1 April an information session on IAEA activities related to
sustainable development.

At PrepCom4 (27 May-7 June 2002), the IAEA organized an information session on "Integrated Coastal Zone Management: Issues, Technologies and Partnerships ".
