In this activity, the Agency developed an Internet-based database for the collection and dissemination of information about research planned or in progress in the field of radioactive waste - including activities related to the decommissioning of nuclear facilities and environmental remediation. Research abstracts can be viewed on line via the cited web page. In addition, compilations of research abstracts can be ordered via the same web page.
Because of dropping demand and the increased availability of technical documents directly through the Internet, this activity is no longer actively supported. However, the IRAIS system is still accessible at the link provided above. Also, researchers may access the International Nuclear Information System (INIS) database, which contains over 850 000 full-text documents and over 2.8 million bibliographic records.
