Planned Activities in Geological Disposal
Siting and more especially site characterisation has been mentioned by different Member States has being a key issue for those countries embarking on nuclear power and RWM, the same way as policy, strategy or repository development and planning. The task to be developed needs some further debate regarding its precise content but should for sure update previous technical documents as mentioned below. Taking into account scarce data or restricted access areas, we could focus on methods and technologies for evaluating and interpolating rock properties at depth, and this for several geo-scientific disciplines (hydraulics, mechanics, etc). It will help in populating radionuclide transport models and provide improved rock quality predictions for repository engineering studies and performance assessment.
