World Distribution of Uranium Deposits (UDEPO)

Responsible Officer: Mehmet CEYHAN

World Distribution of Uranium Deposits (UDEPO) is a database of uranium deposits in the world. The database contains information on the classification, geological characteristics, geographical distribution and resources of the deposits. It covers all geographical regions of the world.

To avoid unnecessary clustering and to be more useful for resource assessment, only those deposits with Reasonable Assured Resources of not less than 500 tonnes U and a minimum average grade of 0.03% U are included in the database. Exceptions are made where uranium may be produced as a by-product of other mineral commodities and where uranium deposits form a kind of group. Some previously mined deposits are also included that produced ores with an average grade below 0.03% U.

Currently. the database contains 858 deposit records from 55 countries and will be updated sending questionnaires to the Member States and holding consultancy meetings regularly.

Two documents have been published by the Agency including the data in the database. First document is a map called "World Distribution of Uranium Deposits" and published in 1995. The second document is a guidebook to the map and contains some description of the deposits. The guidebook published in 1996.

The database is accessible to visitors on http://www-nfcis.iaea.org.
