International Network of Laboratories for Nuclear Waste Characterization (LABONET)


Inaugural Meeting of International Network of Laboratories for Nuclear Waste Characterization (LABONET), Vienna, Austria - 17—19 January 2011


LABONET activities were duly launched with this inaugural meeting in line with the Terms of Reference and recommendations from the CM and TM held in May 2009 and April 2010 respectively. Twenty three participants representing waste characterization laboratories and waste management organizations from fifteen Member States participated in the meeting.

The main objective of the meeting was to obtain feedback from the participants on their waste characterization goals, problems and priorities in relation to LABONET. The participants made short presentations on the activities of their respective organizations and highlighted their expectations from LABONET and what they could offer to this network. This exchange of information is considered very useful for the planning of LABONET future activities.
