This video is to assist in the development of a video film in which will instruct amateur film-makers how best to film decommissioning procedures. The overall objective of the film is to show how to film decommissioning procedures and processes. The specific objectives are to convey:

• how to develop communication objectives (the process of deciding exactly what the film needs to get across)
• how to make a reconnaissance of a film location (considering the visual, sound, logistics health & safety challenges of the site)
• how to choose and prepare filming equipment (appropriate for the site/task)
• how to film (and how not to film) a variety of decommissioning procedures
• how to write a commentary (explaining the visuals)
• how to edit a film (using readily available non-professional software)
• how to produce and duplicate DVDs

Implicit in these objectives is the idea that the production of good quality film material is a valuable exercise which will help operatives in other plants undertake comparable procedures safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
