The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Inst. Fuer Technologie und Management im Baubetrieb has developed this clever concept for automating wall shaving of concrete walls, a step required in many cases to remove surface or near-surface contamination prior to demolition/reconstruction. The system relies on vacuum suction pads to remain in firm contact with the wall (or ceiling!), and in its latest version (AMANDA 3) uses two heads simultaneously. Dust is collected at the shaving heads by an integrated industrial vacuum cleaner. One operator runs AMANDA from a remote control panel. A VAST IMPROVEMENT OVER HAVING WORKERS HOLD THE MILLING MACHINES MANUALLY!
