Electronic Workshop

Microprocessor based electronics for the robot system produced in the Sal electronic workshop
The electronic workshop is a very important part of SAL. Often commercial equipment must be adapted to the needs of a laboratory dealing with radioactive material, especially equipment dealing with Uranium and Plutonium. Development of new electronic equipment according to the needs of the analyst is an essential part of the electronic workshop. Instrumentation based on micro-chip bases are produced and for the automatisation of physical and chemical processes, have to be designed and tested before routine use. Changes of communication networks used for data transfer and transfer of measurement results of all analytical equipment is a frequent task. The workshop is equipped with the relevant instruments to be able to maintain the sophisticated instruments in SAL and to develop new equipment which cannot be purchased on the commercial market. For new designed or adapted equipment co-operation with the mechanical workshop is required.
