Inauguration of the Atomic Energy Agency of Syria as a Collaborative Center to the IAEA ( March 2007 )
Ms. G. Voigt, Dir-NAAL, hands over the IAEA plaque to the laboratory during a ceremeony attended by the AECS Deputy DG Prof. Dr. R. Al-Masri and the Head of the Environmental Protection Division Prof. Dr. M.S. Al-Masri to substantiate collaborative work in the field of Reference Materials and terrestrial radioecology of naturally occurring radionuclides.
The inauguration ceremony took place in Dobaya west of Damascus and was followed by an extended visit of the different departments/divisions in this facility such as the Radiation Protection department, the Chemistry department, the Accelerator facility, the Mol. Biology and Biotechnology Department, Toxicology and the Environmental Protection Division, as well as the Agricultural Department (laboratory based plant breeding and field facilities for field trials and animal production), and the irradiation facilities at the Dier Al-Hahar facilities east of Damascus.
