IAEA Collaborating Center in the Field of Environment
In 2006 the National Food Investigation Institute of Hungary was inaugurated as the second IAEA Collaborating Center in the Field of Environment. The official plaque was handed over by Dir-NAAL Ms. Voigt and the Chemistry Unit Head, Mr. Sansone to the institute representatives and the DG of the Hungarian Nuclear Energy Commission in Budapest. A special focus of the collaboration is on Reference Materials where the institute provides essential support to the production and characterisation of new terrestrial matrix reference materials. In addition NFII staff are major contributors for the update and revision of the TRS 364 "Transfer parameters for predicting radionuclide transfer in temperate environments".
