The Agency's Laboratories Seibersdorf and Vienna
Quality System
The operation of Agency's Laboratories Seibersdorf and Vienna has always been underpinned with high level of quality control and quality assurance. The implementation of a more formal quality system started in 1995. Beside regulations for specific fields, the quality requirements described in the ISO 9000:2000, ISO 17025:1999 and the OECD GLP standards, as well as these of the ISO Guides 34 and 43 are mainly followed, reflecting the variety of activities carried out by the Agency's Laboratories. The overall responsibility for quality rests with the Director of the Agency's Laboratories, who chairs the Quality Management Team. The Quality Management Team has the overall authority and responsibility in respect to all decisions and actions related to the implementation and maintenance of the quality system at the Agency's Laboratories, and defines the general quality policy. Practical implementation and daily maintenance of the quality systems is delegated to assigned Laboratory staff:
- Quality Systems Manager for overall co-ordination at the Agency's Laboratories' level,
- Laboratory Quality Managers and Quality Co-ordinators, as needed at the Laboratory and Unit level.
At the Agency level the necessary links, related to all quality management issues, are maintained through the Agency Cross Cutting Activity Quality Assurance Steering Committee.
