Poland is ready to host INIR mission


2013-02-11 | A preparatory meeting for the Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) mission (Pre-INIR Mission) to Poland was held between senior officials of Poland and a group of IAEA experts led by Mr Juan Carlos Lentijo, Director of the IAEA Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology (NEFW) on 6-7 February in Warsaw.

The mission met the host counterpart in Poland, led by Ms Hanna Trojanowska, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Economy, in order to clearly define and confirm the specific scope of work, to identify the most relevant institutes, and to make logistical arrangements for the coming INIR Mission. The Pre-INIR Mission also provided a chance to share views on Poland's Self-Evaluation Report on the status of national nuclear infrastructure development, and to indicate what additional documents and material should be provided prior to the INIR Mission.

Poland stressed that it would welcome the specific recommendations given regarding the current status of the Polish nuclear power programme, and that the INIR report would be shared among high level officials.

More than nine Ministries and various organizations including the Ministry of Energy as Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organization (NEPIO), PGE as owner/operator, and the National Atomic Energy Agency (NAEA) as regulatory body, will participate in the INIR Mission which is planned to be held in March 2013.
