The Technical Working Group on Nuclear Power Infrastructure (TWG-NPI) is a group of international experts who provide advice to IAEA related to the development and implementation of national nuclear power programmes. These experts represent countries with established national nuclear power programmes and countries considering starting such programmes.
The TWG-NPI ensures that sound, shared and comprehensive guidance and recommendations based on recent developments and best practices on infrastructure development for national nuclear power programmes, and advice on policies and strategies are being developed, implemented and pursued by the Agency in support of interested Member States.
Members of TWG-NPI are appointed by the Deputy Director General, Head of Department of Nuclear Energy, following consultation with the respective national authorities or organizations of the Member States.
The TWG-NPI:
Acting as a link between the Agency's activities in specific areas and national relevant activities in support of infrastructure development, the TWG-NPI also interacts with Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy (SAGNE), the International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO), Technical Working Group on Managing Human Resources in the Field of Nuclear Energy (TWG-MHR), Technical Working Group on Nuclear Fuel Cycle Options (TWGNFCO), International Radioactive Waste Technical Committee (WATEC), Agency's Nuclear Power Support Group (NPSG) and other Agency advisory groups, including those outside of the Agency, on relevant topics and as appropriate.
