Full Membership in the Graphite Knowledge Base is restricted to Member States of the International Atomic Energy Agency which are willing and able to provide either data relevant to the Irradiated-Graphite Properties Database or authoritative inputs to the Graphite Knowledge Base: such inputs would either be owned by them, or by non-governmental organizations within their territories.
To participate in the Graphite Knowledge Base project, an official request to this effect (Application for Membership) is to be made by the Member State to the Director General of the IAEA. A prospective member of the Graphite Knowledge Base shall provide to the IAEA, together with the application for membership, the following information:
amount of relevant data/information offered for immediate inclusion in the Graphite Database / Knowledge Base
brief description of material offered (including any access restrictions)
estimate of the future contributions (including voluntary technical manpower effort) to the Graphite Database and Knowledge Base
statement of acceptance of the obligations stipulated in the International Agreement provided by the IAEA ("Working Arrangement") for the project
Member States which are not in possession of data or information relevant to the project, but have a strong interest in the use of such data or information and in the development of the Graphite Knowledge Base, may be accepted as Associate Members of the Graphite Knowledge Base.
A prospective Associate Member of the Graphite Knowledge-Base Project shall make an official request (Application for Associate Graphite Database Membership) to the Director General of the IAEA. Such request shall include the following information:
description of the current and future needs of the Member State which motivate the application for Associate Graphite Knowledge Base membership
description of the expected non-data contribution of the applicant to the Graphite Knowledge Base development and maintenance (which may be financial through Voluntary Contribution or provision of technical effort to assist the project)
statement of acceptance of the obligations stipulated in of the International Agreement provided by the IAEA ("Working Arrangement") for the project
Presently (March 2010), the full Knowledge-Base Members are:
The United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands and Korea. The Peoples Republic of China has a membership application pending.
Presently there is one Associate Member: Lithuania.
