Desalination Economic Evaluation Program (DEEP)

The IAEA Desalination Economic Evaluation Program (DEEP) is a tool made freely available by the International Atomic Energy Agency, which can be used for performance and cost evaluation of various power and water co-generation configurations. The current version, DEEP-3.1, adds two new options, namely water transport and carbon tax costs to the total costs of water desalination. The user is also able to compare the costs of desalination to water transport solutions. Available energy options include nuclear, fossil and renewable sources, while desalination options include Multi-Effect Distillation (MED), Multi-Stage Flash (MSF), Reverse Osmosis (RO) and hybrid options, including MED-RO and MSF-RO.
