Outgoing IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei was recognised today during a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors for his leadership during his 12-year tenure at the helm of the Agency.
Representatives from over 30 Member States lauded Dr. ElBaradei for the manner in which he dealt with numerous issues throughout the years. They also said that the IAEA gained widespread recognition under his leadership.
The IAEA Board also recommended that Dr. ElBaradei be conferred with the title of DG Emeritus at the IAEA´s General Conference to be held from 14-18 September.
