A photographic exhibit Make Power - Not War featuring the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate - the IAEA and Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei - is on display in the lobby of the Austria Centre, throughout the week of the IAEA General Conference.

The exhibition depicts the many and varied facets of IAEA life, in photographs, text and cartoons: from the anti-nuclear protests sometimes staged outside the Agency´s Vienna headquarters; to the work of its safeguards inspectors; its role in nuclear safety and efforts to promote the peaceful uses of nuclear technology.

The exhibit is on loan from the Nobel Peace Centre, which produced the exhibition in co-operation with Dagbladet Magasinet and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. It is the Centre´s first major exhibition on a laureate since the museum opened in Oslo in 2005.

Four videos provided by the Nobel Peace Centre will also be shown as part of the exhibit:

The 2005 Nobel Peace Prize was shared in two equal parts between the IAEA and its Director General Mohamed ElBaradei. They were awarded for their work to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that it is used in the safest possible way for the benefit of humankind.

There have been more than 115 000 visitors to the Nobel Peace Centre since it open in June 2005. See Story Resources for more.
