19, Wednesday. Latest Iran Safeguards Reports Circulated to IAEA Board. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei circulated his latest reports on nuclear safeguards in Iran to the Agency´s Board of Governors, the 35-member policymaking body. 27, Monday. IAEA Chief Addresses UN General Assembly. Speaking to the UN General Assembly in New York, IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei gave an update on the work of the Agency in the last year and highlighted some of the challenges which need to be addressed. Full Story | DG Statement

29, Monday. IAEA General Conference Opens in Vienna. The 52nd annual IAEA General Conference opened in Vienna, Austria with high-level delegates and representatives from the Agency´s 145 Member States in attendance. In a statement to delegates, Director General ElBaradei reviewed tough challenges and hard decisions facing the Agency in areas of nuclear safeguards, security, safety, and peaceful development. 27, Saturday. UN Security Council Resolution on Iran. Taking note of a report by IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution that "calls upon Iran to comply fully and without delay with its obligations" under previous resolutions of the Security Council, and to meet the requirements of the IAEA Board of Governors. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei has circulated a report to the UN Security Council and IAEA Board of Governors on the Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement and Relevant Provisions of Security Council Resolutions 1737 (2006), 1747 (2007) and 1803 (2008) in the Islamic Republic of Iran. 3 March, Monday. Security Council Authorizes More Sanctions Against Iran Over Nuclear Issue. The UN Security Council has imposed a third round of sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programme citing concerns of "the proliferation risks presented by the Iranian nuclear programme." The resolution calls for IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei to report within 90 days on whether Iran has fully suspended uranium enrichment activities, in line with a previous Council demand.
