4 December, Tuesday. IAEA Chief on New U.S. Intelligence Estimate on Iran. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei received with great interest the new U.S. National Intelligence Estimate about Iran´s nuclear program which concludes that there has been no on-going nuclear weapons program in Iran since the fall of 2003. 22, Thursday. IAEA Head Briefs Board on Nuclear Issues. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei briefed the IAEA Board of Governors on a range of issues, including the Technical Cooperation programme, nuclear safeguards in Iran and the DPRK, and the Agency´s funding. 12, Wednesday. IAEA Board Considers Safeguards Implementation in Iran. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei talked to media representatives about the Board of Governors´ consideration of safeguards implementation in Iran. The Board derestricted the latest report on Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement and Relevant Provisions of Security Council Resolutions 1737 (2006) and 1747 (2007) in the Islamic Republic of Iran submitted by Dr. ElBaradei. 10, Monday. Board of Governors Meeting Starts in Vienna. The 35-member IAEA Board of Governors are meeting in Vienna this week to disccus the Agency´s work on nuclear safety, nuclear security, nuclear science, technology and applications, as well as current safeguards implementation issues. 27, Monday. Workplan to resolve outstanding issues released. The Islamic Repulic of Iran today requested the IAEA Secretariat to release the text of a work plan agreed between Iran and the IAEA titled Understandings of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IAEA on the Modalities of Resolution of the Outstanding Issues. 13, Friday. IAEA Team Returns from Tehran Meetings on Iran´s Nuclear Programme. Following the June 2007 meeting between Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, IAEA Director General, and Dr. Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, an Agency delegation, headed by Mr. Olli Heinonen, Deputy Director General for Safeguards, visited Iran from 11 - 12 July 2007. 25, Monday. IAEA Chief, Iran´s Larijani Hold Second Meeting. Dr. Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran´s Supreme National Security Council, flew to Vienna Sunday evening, 24 June, to hold another meeting with Director General Mohamed ElBaradei. Press Release
22, Friday. IAEA and Iran Agree to Start Drafting "Work Plan". Iran and the IAEA could soom start work on drafting a plan of action that will address all outstanding issues regarding Iran´s nuclear programme. Full Story
20, Wednesday. Latest Report on IAEA Nuclear Safeguards Issued. In 2006, the IAEA applied nuclear safeguards for 162 States. A summary of the findings and conclusions are reported in the latest IAEA Safeguards Statement. Statement
14, Thursday. Director General Briefs Press on Iran´s Nuclear Programme. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei spoke to the press about Iran´s nuclear programme, saying the next few months were "crucial" and that "diplomacy and negotiation" provided the only durable solution. The IAEA Board derestricted the latest report on the implementation of safeguards and relevant provisions of Security Council Resolutions in Iran submitted by Dr. ElBaradei. 24, Saturday. UN Security Council Adopts Resolution on Iran. The UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1747 on 24 March 2007. As reported by the UN press office, the resolution imposes further sanctions on Iran and reaffirms that Iran must take the steps required by the IAEA Board. IAEA Director General ElBaradei today circulated a report to the Agency´s Board of Governors on cooperation between Iran and the IAEA in light of UN Security Council Resolution 1737. The 35-member Board will consider the report at its next meetings beginning in Vienna 5 March. The report´s circulation is restricted and unless the IAEA Board decides otherwise it cannot be released to the public. 29, Monday. Dr. ElBaradei Calls for "Timeout" on Iran Nuclear Issue. In an interview with CNN among other international media in Davos 26 January, IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei called for a "timeout regarding the Iranian nuclear issue", saying he hoped talks could resume on the matter. 23, Tuesday. Director General Meets High-Levels Officials in France on Iran, Nuclear Issues. IAEA Head Mohamed ElBaradei met with high-level officials in France 17-18 January to discuss issues related to nuclear non-proliferation and the peaceful development of nuclear power.
