23, Thursday. Director General Briefs Board on Iran & Other Issues. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei addressed the Agency´s 35-member Board of Governors on a range of topics, including the IAEA´s Technical Cooperation Programme and developments related to nuclear safeguards. 11, Monday. IAEA Director General Briefs Board, Media on Iran Nuclear Safeguards. Director General Mohamed ElBaradei today addressed the IAEA Board of Governors on the Agency´s nuclear safeguards in Iran, among other issues. 31, Thursday. Report on Iran Sent to Agency´s Board and UN Security Council. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei today released his report Implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The report was prepared at the request of the United Nation´s Security Council. Full Story
31, Monday. Security Council Resolution on Iran Nuclear Programme. The Security Council, seriously concerned that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was still unable to provide assurances about Iran´s undeclared nuclear material and activities after more than three years, today demanded that Iran suspend all enrichment-related and reprocessing activities, including research and development, and gave it one month to do so or face the possibility of economic and diplomatic sanctions to give effect to its decision. 12, Monday: Statement by IAEA Director General on Iran. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei presented his introductory statement to the June meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei welcomed the announcement by U.S. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, expressing the readiness of the U.S. Government to join the EU-Iran talks once Iran responds positively to the IAEA Board of Governor´s call for the suspension of enrichment-related and reprocessing activities as a confidence-building measure. 4, Thursday: IAEA Report on Iran Before UN Security Council for Action. The UN Security Council continues its discussions of Iran´s nuclear programme and the IAEA´s latest safeguards report. A draft resolution was submitted by the United States, United Kingdom, and France. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei sent his report on the implementation of safeguards in Iran to the IAEA Board and the Security Council on 28 April. 20, Monday: UN Security Council Takes Up IAEA Report on Iran´s Nuclear Programme. The IAEA report on Iran´s nuclear programme topped the agenda of a closed-door meeting of the United Nations Security Council 17 March, the first time the issue has been formally addressed by the 15-member body. 8, Wednesday: Report on Iran´s Nuclear Programme Sent to UN Security Council. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei has transmitted his report on Iran´s nuclear programme to the UN Security Council, at the close of the Agency´s Board of Governors meeting in Vienna today. Speaking to the press, the Director General called for a "cool headed approach" from all parties. 28, Tuesday: Report on Iran Nuclear Safeguards Sent to Agency´s Board. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei this week circulated his latest report on the Agency´s nuclear verification in Iran to the IAEA´s Member States. The 35-nation IAEA Board of Governors will convene a regular meeting in the Agency´s Vienna Headquarters on Monday, 6 March 2006. 4, Saturday: IAEA Board Adopts Resolution on Nuclear Safeguards in Iran. The IAEA Board of Governors passed a resolution requesting the IAEA Director General to report to the UN Security Council all IAEA reports and resolutions, as adopted, relating to the implementation of safeguards in Iran. The Resolution was adopted by vote of 27 in favour, 3 against and 5 abstentions. 3, Friday: IAEA Board Set to Convene for Day Two. Day two of the IAEA Board´s special meeting on Iran opens this afternoon at the Agency´s headquarters in Vienna. 31, Tuesday: Foreign Ministers Issue Statement on Iran. The Foreign Ministers of China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the High Representative of the European Union met in London 30 January 2006 to discuss Iran´s nuclear programme. 24, Tuesday: Iran Requests Information Circular on Nuclear Issues. Iran submitted a document to the IAEA entitled "Short Glance on Iranian Nuclear Issue" to the IAEA, requesting it be distributed as an Information Circular for all Member States. 10, Tuesday: Iran Begins Removal of IAEA Seals at Enrichment-related Locations. IAEA inspectors have confirmed that Iran has started to remove IAEA seals on enrichment-related equipment and material at Natanz. Based on the information currently available, the removal of Agency seals at enrichment site of Natanz, and at two related storage and testing locations, Pars Trash and Farayand Technique, will be completed by 11 January 2006. 3, Tuesday: Iran Informs IAEA of Decision to Resume Nuclear R&D. The IAEA Secretariat received today a Note Verbale from the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran in which Iran informed the Agency that it "has decided to resume from 9 January 2006 those R&D on the peaceful nuclear energy programme which has been suspended as part of its expanded voluntary and non-legally binding suspension."
