3 March, Monday. Director General Addresses Board on Nuclear Issues. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei addressed the Board of Governors on several topics, including nuclear safety and security, assurance of fuel supply, the implementation of safeguards in the DPRK and other Agency matters. 22, Thursday. IAEA Head Briefs Board on Nuclear Issues. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei briefed the IAEA Board of Governors on a range of issues, including the Technical Cooperation programme, nuclear safeguards in Iran and the DPRK, and the Agency´s funding. 14, Wednesday. IAEA Chief Meets US Assistant Secretary of State on DPRK. The IAEA Director General Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei and US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Christopher Hill, spoke to the press after meeting in Vienna to discuss the DPRK verification issue. 30, Tuesday. UN General Assembly Reaffirms Support for IAEA. The United Nations General Assembly has reaffirmed strong support for the IAEA´s work, following Director General Mohamed ElBaradei´s annual address delivered in New York on 29 October. Full Story | Statement

10, Monday. Board of Governors Meeting Starts in Vienna. The 35-member IAEA Board of Governors are meeting in Vienna this week to disccus the Agency´s work on nuclear safety, nuclear security, nuclear science, technology and applications, as well as current safeguards implementation issues. 17, Friday. Report on North Korea Safeguards for IAEA General Conference. The latest report of IAEA Director General ElBaradei on the Application of Safeguards in the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea (DPRK) was forwarded to the Agency´s Member States. 18, Wednesday. IAEA Team Confirms Shutdown of DPRK Nuclear Facilities. Following the recent understanding reached between the IAEA and DPRK, an IAEA team arrived at the Yongbyon nuclear site on 14 July 2007 to verify the shutdown of the Yongbyon nuclear facility. Press Release
13, Friday. IAEA Team en Route to North Korean Nuclear Facilities. An IAEA expert team is en route to the nuclear facilities in Yongbyon, in the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea (DPRK/North Korea) to verify and monitor the shutdown and sealing of the facilities. 12, Thursday. Photo-op as IAEA Team Departs Vienna for Beijing en Route to DPRK for Verification and Monitoring Mission. There will be a photo opportunity from 16:00 at the Vienna International Airport in the check-in area of the departure hall, prior to an IAEA team´s departure for Beijing, en route to the Democratic Peoples´ Republic of Korea. 10, Tuesday. DPRK Invites IAEA Team for Verification and Monitoring Mission. Following receipt of an invitation today from the Democratic Peoples' Republic of Korea an IAEA team will travel to the DPRK within the next few days. Media Advisory
9, Monday. Director General Briefs Press on North Korea, Iran & Budget. IAEA Inspectors will return to monitor and verify the shutdown of the Yongbyon nuclear facilities in the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea, after a report outlining the modalities reached between the Agency and the DPRK was approved today by the IAEA Board of Governors meeting in Vienna, Austria. The IAEA Director General has circulated his report on Monitoring and Verification in the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea (DPRK or North Korea), following a visit by an Agency team to North Korea, 26-29 June 2007. 22, Friday. IAEA Team to arrive in Pyongyang Tuesday for Talks. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei has announced that, in response to North Korea´s invitation, an IAEA delegation will be arriving in Pyongyang on Tuesday to start the process for discussing the modalities for verication and monitoring of the shutdown of the Yongbyon nuclear facility. 18, Monday. DPRK Invites IAEA Officials to Pyongyang for Verification Talks. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei received a letter dated 16 June 2007 from the DPRK, requesting an IAEA delegation to visit Pyongyang to discuss the modalities for verification and monitoring by the IAEA of the shutdown of the Yongbyon nuclear facility. 23, Friday. Dr. ElBaradei Accepts Invitation to Visit North Korea. IAEA Chief Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei today accepted an invitation from the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea (DPRK/North Korea) to visit the DPRK for talks in March. 19, Monday. Interview with Director General on Iran and North Korea. In an interview with the Financial Times, IAEA Director General addressed nuclear non-proliferation issues and IAEA verification of nuclear programmes in Iran and in the Democratic People´s Republic of Korea. 13, Tuesday: Six Party Talks in Beijing Report Progress. The Third Session of the Fifth Round of the Six-Party Talks was held in Beijing 8-13 February 2007 and included delegations from China, the DPRK, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, and the USA. The Parties held serious and productive discussions and agreed on initial actions each Party will take in the initial phase for the implementation of the Joint Statement of 19 September 2005.
