Attended the IAEA Workshop on Y2K Contingency Planning, November 1999
  • The guidance used for their programme was the IAEA guidance (TECDOC-1072), WANO recommendations and regulator instructions. It has covered all aspects of a compliant programme.
  • Approximately, 400 systems were inventoried at 10 operating units and 2 under construction. In the case of identical items at different units, each was tested independently.
  • Internal and external audits of the programmes have been completed successfully. Regulatory review is underway.
  • Y2K emergency control rooms are being established with secure communications.
  • Currently 1-3 weeks of diesel fuel will be on-site at each unit.
  • Each unit has 200% diesel capacity. It is planned to start and run diesels 2 hours before the rollover and continue until comfortable with the results.
