Attended the IAEA Workshop on Y2K Contingency Planning, November 1999
  • Guangdong Nuclear Power Station (located near Hong Kong) has set up Contingency plan
    GNPS Integrated Contingency Plan
  • Identified as the primary external events are loss of off-site power, loss of communications, and depletion of consumables
  • Approved and tested the integrated contingency plan on September 9, 1999; training now in progress
  • Developed 34 internal and six external contingency plans;
  • Four types of communications are available to the NPP: land lines, fibre optics, microwave and satellites.
  • Used full scope simulators for training and set up a programme of training was described.
