Attended the IAEA Workshop on Y2K Contingency Planning, November 1999
  • Reported on the Angra-1 unit as Angra-2 is not yet in service. Eletronuclear is one of the 74 electric companies in Brazil.
  • The inventory consists of 139 systems containing 221 items. Up to now, 179 items were found to be compliant, 19 ready, and 23 not ready. None of the not ready items were safety systems or required for operation.
  • Some remediation may not be completed before the rollover date. Items not ready will be declared inoperable prior to the rollover.
  • No other internal risks were identified.
  • he external risks identified were loss-of-off-site power, loss of communications, and depletion of consumables. The criteria used for consumables is to be independent of suppliers as much as possible until March 2000.
