During the 18th Meeting of the INPRO Steering Committee in early November, the representative of Israel, Ms Galit Weidenfeld of the Israel Atomic Energy Commission, announced the decision of the State of Israel to participate as full member in INPRO.
“Israel attaches much importance to the IAEA Innovative Project on Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles and its ongoing activities” stated Ambassador Ehud Azoulay, Permanent Representative of Israel to the IAEA and CTBTO, in a message to IAEA Deputy Director General for Nuclear Energy, Alexander Bychkov.
“I would like to express the IAEA’s appreciation for the interest in, and support of INPRO expressed by the Government of Israel and welcome Israel as a member of INPRO”, Mr Bychkov pointed out.
Israel joined INPRO as an observer in 2007 and since then, Israeli representatives have participated in meetings of the INPRO Steering Committee and have been involved in the Collaborative Project on Fuel Cycles for Innovative Nuclear Energy Systems based on Integrated Technologies (FINITE).
