Regulations on the use of the IAEA Library

  1. Access to the IAEA Library is available to staff of government organizations, nuclear research institutes and laboratories, nuclear information centres and libraries in Agency Member States, and private individuals, needing the use on topics covered by the collections. In all cases access is granted for a limited period of time to persons who have found that materials required to complete their work are unavailable at all other local libraries/sources.


  2. Expected access period:

    1. one day only. One copy of the completed form should be sent to the address below.


    2. more than 1 day but with a limited period of time. Please supply the following documentation:

      1. One original copy of the completed form;
      2. 2 passport sized PHOTOGRAPHS;
      3. Residents of Austria: a Führungszeugnis (Certificate of Good Conduct) issued within the last three months. Photocopies are not acceptable.

  3. Applicants are requested to contact the IAEA Library Information Desk about the status of their application, allowing about one week for processing.


  4. Final clearance is made by the UN Security and Safety Section, after which a daily library pass will be issued to the applicant at Gate 1 (the production of some official identification will be necessary). The pass is valid to visit the IAEA Library premises only; misuse (e.g. visiting other areas in the VIC without permission) will result in the withdrawal of permission.

    THE PASS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.


  5. First-time users should first register with the Information Desk (F0146) when they will also be given instructions on using the collections. All material must be consulted in the Library.


  6. Any changes or amendments in the period of using the IAEA Library may be discussed with the IAEA Library authorities.


  7. The IAEA Library and the UN Security and Safety Section reserve the right to reject an application or withdraw approval. With their signature, the applicants confirm that they are aware of the regulations and will adhere to them.
