Permanent Representative of Italy
Mr. Gianni Ghisi is Italy's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the IAEA and other international organizations in Vienna, Austria. He was most recently Diplomatic Counsellor to Italy's Minister of Health in Rome.
Mr. Ghisi has served at a number of senior diplomatic positions for his country's foreign service. He was Deputy Director General for Development Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-2007); Coordinator for Africa and the Middle East, Directorate General for Development Cooperation (2004-2005); Consul General in Jerusalem and Head of the Mission to the Palestinian National Authority and to UNRWA (199-2004); Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy in Budapest (1995-199) Head of the Office for Multilateral Cooperation, Directorate General for Development Cooperation (1992-1995); First Counsellor at the Permanent Mission to the International Organizations in Vienna (1989-1992); Head of the Secretariat of the Inspector General at the MInistry of Foreign Affairs (1985-1988); Counsellor at the Embassy in Lagos (1982-1985); and Head of the Vice Consulate in Locarno (1979-1982).
Mr. Ghisi was born in Novellara (province of Reggio Emilia) on 11 June 1950. In 1973 he graduated in Political Sciences at the Bologna University and entered the Italian Foreign Service in 1974. Mr. Ghisi is a career diplomat and minister plenipotentiary. He is married to Ms. Marina Livadiotti.
