- Resolution Adopted on Safeguards in DPRK
At its concluding session today, the IAEA General Conference adopted a resolution on the implementation of safeguards in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK, North Korea). The resolution "calls upon the DPRK to cooperate promptly with the Agency in the full and effective implementation of IAEA safeguards and to resolve any outstanding issues that may have arisen due to the long absence of safeguards... and to comply fully with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons". - New Members Elected to the IAEA Board of Governors
Eleven countries have been newly elected to serve on the 35-member IAEA Board of Governors for the period 2006-2007. The action was taken by Member States meeting at the IAEA General Conference in Vienna this week. The newly elected Board members are Austria, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Croatia, Ethiopia, Finland, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Thailand. More »
