- Special Event on Assurances of Nuclear Supply Opens in Vienna
The Special Event on assurances of nuclear supply and non-proliferation opened today in Vienna with an announcement of a US $50 million contribution from the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI). The contribution will be used to help create a low-enriched uranium stockpile to support nations that choose not to build indigenous nuclear fuel cycle capabilities. - Monaco's Prince Albert Opens IAEA Environment Exhibit
Prince Albert II of Monaco today underscored his commitment to protecting the earth's environment at the opening of a special exhibit at the IAEA General Conference in Vienna. The Prince opened the event --entitled "Nuclear Technologies for the Environment: Protecting Air, Earth and Oceans" -- with IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei. - Korean Exhibit Highlights Advances in Nuclear Technology
"Albert Einstein", the latest Korean humanoid robot, was among dignitaries briefed at Korea's exhibit, "Korean Nuclear Energy: Messenger of Happiness". The country's exhibit this year emphasizes transferring Korean nuclear know-how to other countries. Full Story »
- Marie Curie-Sklodowska Exhibit
On the ocassion of its 50th General Conference, Poland and France are donating to the IAEA a sculpture representing Marie Curie-Sklodowska, noted physicist who won the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics with her husband, Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel. The donation took place in the evening of the first day of the conference. Full Story »
- Make Power - Not War: Nobel Peace Prize Exhibit
A photographic exhibit, Make Power - Not War, featuring the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates - the IAEA and Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei - is on display in the lobby of the Austria Centre, throughout the week of the IAEA General Conference. Full Story »
