- General Conference Adopts Resolutions on Nuclear Issues
At its concluding session today, the IAEA General Conference adopted resolutions on nuclear issues, including the implementation of safeguards in North Korea and the application of IAEA safeguards in the Middle East. More than 100 States met at the Conference in Vienna this week. More »

Following IAEA General Conference elections of new members this week, the IAEA Board of Governors for 2005-06 now includes the following 35 States: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Republic of, Libya, Norway, Portugal, Russian Federation, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Syria, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America, Venezuela, and Yemen.

- Meeting Global Water Challenges
A side event entitled "Meeting Global Water Challenges: The IAEA's Role" is being held today in Meeting Room L/M of the Austria Centre. The event is in recognition of the recently launched International Decade for Action, Water for Life 2005-2015. It is being held to create more awareness about the Agency's work in isotope hydrology to help Member States address water resource challenges. The event will feature brieef addresses by invited delgates, a "water tasting" and displays portraying activities of the Agency's Water Resource Programme. More »

- Nuclear Science: Physics Helping the World
The Scientific Forum, with the theme "Nuclear Science: Physics Helping the World" begins today in Conference Room C of the Austria Centre. IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei and Nobel Laureate Burton Richter made the opening statements. In his statement, Dr. ElBaradei said the forum is an excellent opportunity to opportunity to share new ideas, to learn from each other and to forge new collaboration.
