Briefing on Joint Convention
[Afternoon] A briefing session on
the benefits of involvement and participation in the Joint Convention on
the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste
Management will be held today. The Joint Convention is the first internationally
legally binding treaty in its field, and the purpose of the briefing is
to encourage Member States not yet Parties to the Convention to ratify it

Cuba Signs NPT Safeguards Agreement, Additional Protocol

[Morning] The General Debate continues
today, with statements scheduled from the delegates of Kuwait, the Former
Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Haiti, Zambia, Democratic Republic
of Congo, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, United Republic of
Tanzania, Nigeria, Mongolia, and Panama.
Display on Spent Sealed Sources Conditioning
An exact replica of the tool kit used for sealed sources conditioning operations
is on display at the General Conference. The Agency has been using this
mobile kit in over 45 conditioning operations carried out in various Member
States. This is part of the assistance the IAEA provides to countries that
don't have proper infrastructure to condition spent sealed sources for long-term
