| The speaker reiterated the firm commitment of the Government of Bangladesh to nuclear non-proliferation and to the peaceful uses of atomic energy. He also described some of the energy concerns of Bangladesh, as well as some of the means by which the country has met its energy needs thus far. The speaker touched on some of the challenges faced by the country at present, and expressed the hope for continued technical support from the Agency specifically on the development of human resources for Bangladesh’s nuclear power programme. The speaker also looked forward to positive support from the Nuclear Suppliers Group countries. He stressed that RCA projects have been most helpful for Bangladesh, and that as such they should be enlarged; specifically, a project on Energy and Nuclear Power should be enhanced. Bangladesh is developing a Central Radioactive Waste Processing and Storage Facility at AERE, Savar, Dhaka; Bangladesh will need continued Agency support on this vital area of safety. | ||||
