Supplementary Item for Inclusion in the Provisional Agenda

  1. By letter to the Director General dated 28 June 1999, Slovenia has submitted a proposal for the amendment of Article XIV of the Statute of the Agency. Subsequently, Slovenia has requested that this proposal be included as an item of the provisional agenda for the forthcoming regular session of the General Conference. Consequently, the item is set out below as a supplementary item of the provisional agenda. At the request of Slovenia, the letter of 28 June 1999 is to be taken as constituting the explanatory memorandum required under the Rules (Attachment 1).

  2. Pursuant to the requirements of Article XVIII.A of the Statute, certified copies of the proposed amendment have been communicated to all Member States of the Agency by letter of the Director General reference N5.11.6 Circ. of 29 June 1999 (Attachment 2).

    1. Article XIV of the Statute

      By letter to the Director General dated 28 June 1999, Slovenia has submitted a proposal for the amendment of Article XIV of the Statute of the Agency and has subsequently requested inclusion of this item on the provisional agenda. Certified copies of the text of the proposed amendment have been communicated to all Member States of the Agency by letter of the Director General reference N5.11.6 Circ. of 29 June 1999.

      The Conference may wish that the item be considered initially in the Committee of the Whole.

Article XIV of the Statute

I have the honour, as Governor of Slovenia, in the light of the decision of the Board of Governors at its June 1999 session agreeing to the change to biennial programming for the Agency and the considerable support expressed for amending the Statute to provide for biennial budgeting, to submit the attached text of a proposal by Slovenia for amendment to Article XIV.A. of the Statute of the Agency.

I would appreciate it if, pursuant to the requirements of Article XVIII.A of the Statute, certified copies of this amendment are circulated to all Member States of the Agency without delay.
