SIGNING OF CONVENTIONS

On 29 September 1997, the following multilateral instruments were opened for signature at the Headquarters of the IAEA, in accordance with the provisions of their respective final clauses:

Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management (adopted on 5 September 1997);
Protocol to Amend the Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage (adopted on 12 September 1997);
Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage (adopted on 12 September 1997).

On 29 September, the Conventions were signed by representatives of the following Member States:

Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management: 1. United States of America; 2. United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; 3. Sweden; 4. Republic of Korea; 5. Ukraine; 6. Morocco; 7. Switzerland; 8. Hungary; 9. Norway; 10. Slovenia; 11. Kazakhstan and 12. France
Protocol to Amend the Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage: 1. Ukraine; 2. Morocco and 3. Hungary
Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage: 1. United States of America; 2. Ukraine and 3. Morocco
