Department of Technical Cooperation

Department of Technical Cooperation (TC)

The Department of Technical Cooperation (TC) consists of four regional Divisions (Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Latin America) and a Division of Programme Support and Coordination.

The TC operating environment is interactive, participative and dynamic with continuous inputs received from the Board of Governors, the General Conference, policy and decision-makers as well as technical counterparts in Member States, other parts of the Secretariat and the international development community.

Divisions for Africa (TCAF), Asia & the Pacific (TCAP), Europe (TCEU) and Latin America (TCLA)

The Divisions are responsible for planning, programming, implementing and monitoring the technical cooperation programme in accordance with the IAEA technical cooperation strategy. This includes the development of Country Programme Frameworks and the formulation and implementation of projects which respond to relevant developmental priorities and foster self-reliance of Member States in the sustainable application of nuclear techniques, resource mobilization and partnerships building, enhanced regional collaboration and cooperation, leading to greater recognition of the IAEA as a partner in development.

Division of Programme Support and Coordination (TCPC)

The Division of Programme Support and Coordination is responsible for enhancing quality and transparency in the design, delivery and monitoring of the technical cooperation programme through timely, accurate and effective support services. These involve strategies, concepts and tools, communication and partnership services, and planning and coordination of policy matters and procedures. They also involve overall guidance and coordination of the management of financial resources, furnishing IT services and provision of information to senior management and Member States, including reports to the Board of Governors and the General Conference.
