25 April 2008 | IAEA Director General Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Ursula Plassnik, and Mayor and Governor of Vienna Michael Häupl today jointly inaugurated the new M Building at the Vienna International Centre (VIC).
Boasting a maximum capacity of 2,700, the new conference centre was donated to the United Nations by the Austrian Government and the city of Vienna.
The state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly facility will be shared by the four Vienna-based UN organizations - namely, the IAEA, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
CTBTO Executive Secretary Tibor Tóth and UNODC Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa also attended the ceremony.
